Since a patio has so many different functions, planning is key before you start remodeling. First of all take time to consider the positioning of the patio within the garden, when are you most likely to use it? Where is the sun at this time of the day? Decide if you only want one patio area or several? What amenities you would like, for example an outdoor fire pit, or a barbeque area? Consider if the size your patio needs to be and whether you have sufficient space available? Determine your budget.
Once you completed the first step the next stage is to design the patio. Drawing the area out of paper will provide the opportunity to get the layout correct before incurring the expense of construction. Once construction commences it can be costly to amend mistakes or errors, on paper it is simply the cost on an eraser.
