Landscaping a garden – Preparation is key

Block paved edging

A good foundation is key to a lasting garden

You may have seen in our earlier blog that we have been employed by a customer in Lincolnshire to transform their small garden into a space which they can sit out and enjoy. So far we have created a design of their new garden:

Now it is time to start the construction, as with most things that we want to last preparation is key. All too often we hear on television about people who have had patios laid which not long afterwards start to fail as slabs rock and move due to poor foundations and laying.

At AGI Landscapes we want our customers to have years stress free enjoyment from their gardens and for us preparation is key. Once the garden is stripped back to a blank canvas the next stage is to mark out the new garden design:

Next all paved areas are dug out ready for hardcore to be installed and compacted, thereby creating a strong foundation.

Finally all blocks and paving are laid on a bed of wet mortar.

The garden is now really starting to take shape as the design is becomes alive, and the customers are getting excited.

Visit our next blog as we start to lay the paving.
