Now that Christmas is past for another year it maybe time to look at your garden and prepare it for the new year. So here are some January garden maintenance tips.
- Remove fallen leaves and debris from lawns
- Shred and compost all prunings and old herbaceous material
- Plan vegetable gardens
- Dead head winter flowering containers
- Heel in bare-rooted trees and shrubs if weather prevents planting
- Remove snow before it breaks or disfigures trees and shrubs
- Plant new fruit bushes and trees when weather and soil conditions allow
- Clean and sterlise pots and trays ready for the new season
