The Brief

The clients had recently purchased a new property in which the garden sloped away from the house, and had been left as soil, with only a few existing trees and a simple patio to the rear.

The clients wanted an informal garden with a choice of seating areas, an entertaining area for friends and family, a herb garden, a place for storage and to make the slope interesting. Both where keen gardeners so planting was important.

What we did

Our solution

To create an informal feel to the garden

To create an informal feel to the garden the design was based upon a circular theme. As the garden was south facing a circular entertaining area was created using Indian Sandstone. Paths radiated from the terrace area drawing people into the garden and to additional seating areas.

This was complimented with contoured lawns flowing around the garden and creating interesting planting areas. Vertical oak sleepers were used to edge the top lawn and created a retaining wall.

A circular gravelled herb garden was designed with a radiating stepped path leading to a lower gazebo and seating area.

A custom designed storage area was built to the side of the house to store tools and garden furniture.

A woodland walk using bark was created around existing trees.

“From our very first meeting with Ian we were impressed! He created our fantastic garden two years ago with such professionalism. He is so knowledgeable and talented, reliable and trustworthy. His attention to detail is outstanding. Our garden just continues to get better and better each year and was worth every penny of the investment we made. We would not hesitate to recommend AGI Landscapes and feel very lucky we chose them to create our garden which gives us so much pleasure every day of the year!”
