When landscaping a large garden the possibilities can be endless, however it is important to remember scale. When creating the garden areas need to be kept in proportion to the space or their surroundings. For example having a 12 inch border around a “football pitch” size lawn would mean that the border become lost, if would be better for the border to be a minimum of 5 foot and add tiered planting to create interesting depth to the border.
Additionally it is important to ensure that the garden flows and works as a whole. With a large garden there is a risk of developing an area at a time without an overall plan to work to. The resulting effect can be that the overall garden will become disjointed. Such situations can be avoided by the creation of a garden design incorporating the entire garden thereby providing a plan which can be used overtime.
